Olympic Maths!

We have been learning about the Olympic Games.  We wanted to know just how high, how far and how fast the athlete went.

We are getting ready to run 100 meters.  We can't run as
fast a Usain Bolt yet!

Tom Walsh threw the shot put 20 meters.  We are standing that far from the
camera.  We lifted up a shot put and it was really heavy.
The gold medalist at the high jump jumped 2.38 meters. That is where Nikau is pointing too.

This is the length of the gold medal winning long jump.  It was 8.38 meters.Wow!

  1. Hi there, we are Room 2 at Paihia Primary School. We really liked the way you used your mathematical skills to show the distance that they did. It made us think of when we get older that we might be able to go to the Olympics. How did you write the number on wall?

  2. Kia ora Room 1. I REALLY enjoyed looking at your Olympic maths. I am amazed at what the Olympians can do - especially the high jump and long jump. I wonder if you will be an Olympian one day.

  3. Hello Room One from Bibi and Gramps in Wales! Well done, Your Olympic Maths really did show us how fit, strong and skilled the athletes have to be at such a competitive level. We are always impressed by all the effort and enthusiasm displayed by you children and your teachers during the Paihia School's sport events we have been lucky to attend. Who knows.... we might be cheering for one of you in an Olympic event one day in the future?
